Range Renovation 2026

We’re pleased to share the completion of a major range improvement project designed to enhance safety, accessibility, and the overall shooting experience for all members. This effort focused on both restoring key areas and expanding the usability of the range for shooters of all distances.

The range renovation project was undertaken to improve safety, accessibility, and the overall shooting experience for all members:

  • Improved sight lines from all shooting positions, benefiting shooters at 100 yards and beyond

  • Established proper drainage to prevent washouts along the access path and at the top of the hill

  • Created flat, stable target areas at 160, 200, and 250 yards

  • Constructed a defined berm at 300 yards for safe target placement

  • Rebuilt the 100-yard berm, restoring a critical and heavily used shooting distance

  • Made the access path fully traversable for standard vehicles

While this was not an inexpensive project, it addressed long-standing issues—particularly limited access beyond 100 yards and the deterioration of key shooting areas.

These improvements benefit every shooter. The restored 100-yard berm and enhanced sight lines provide better visibility, safer backstops, and a more consistent experience for day-to-day shooting.

For those interested in extending their range, the upgrades also make it easier to observe shot placement—including misses—during sight-in and organized events such as the growing Long Gong matches (see calendar).

Overall, this project represents a significant investment in the safety, usability, and enjoyment of the range for the entire membership.

Special thanks to G.T. Morgan Trucking for a job well done!
